PAK7 gene implicated in schizophrenia risk

Duplications at chromosome 20p12.2 increase risk for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder with psychosis, according to a report published online in Human Molecular Genetics. The duplicated region includes PAK7, a gene linked to fabricating connections between neurons.
